Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund, Catarina Furtado has dedicated much of her life and work to social causes and solidarity: from equal opportunities and gender, social inclusion, sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal health, harmful practices against the health of girls and women, child and forced marriages, female genital mutilation, among others.

With her various projects she has given visibility to these issues by conveying to the public the importance that these projects have in developing countries for the exercise of human rights and the dignity for all people. She will bring her emotional testimony about the role that all of us have in this change, as key elements of the solution.

More about Catarina Furtado

Besides being UNFPA's Goodwill Ambassador, Catarina founded the Corações com Coroa (Hearts with a Crown) NGO where she works in exactly the same areas that she embraces at UNFPA: opportunities and gender equality, non-discrimination, non-violence, social inclusion. With CCC and other Portuguese NGOs, she hosted the Exhibition "Too Young to Marry" at CGD headquarters in Lisbon, the first exhibition on the theme of child marriages in Portugal.

"Being born with health and rights cannot be a privilege for some women and children, but a full right for all people around the world, namely through access to health care (including sexual and reproductive health) and education".
