Restoring ecological systems
To understand the Earth, is to understand the whole set of living beings and processes contained within it. In doing so, we are one step closer to being able to prosper with, and not at the expense of, our planet.
Seeing a desert-like and highly degraded environment in Colombia, the Italian Paolo Lugari recognized that this is where the Las Gaviotas project would be born. The project comes with the vision of becoming a huge carbon capturer in order to stabilize the climate. The project has planted more than 8,000 hectares of trees. After more than 10 years, the project has resulted in a 10 percent increase in precipitation, converting the previous dry and degraded environment into the restoration of the water cycle and ecosystem services.
